Ed Everest's Guide to the World's Best Cancer Websites
The home page address is www.bestcancersites.com

If we search for information about a particular type of cancer, read enough posts on the forums or mailing lists, or ask for a prognosis from our medical team, we will eventually encounter statistics that seem to apply to our situation. We may respond with relief if the statistics appear favourable or concern if they suggest a reduced life expectancy.

An excellent and widely recommended article on statistics relating to cancer is Steven Jay Gould's 'The Median Isn't the Message'. You can find it on this page www.cancerguide.org/median_not_msg.html of Steve Dunn's CancerGuide website www.cancerguide.org. It's easy to understand and only takes a few minutes to read. Steve says of this article "As far as I'm concerned, Gould's The Median Isn't the Message is the wisest, most humane thing ever written about cancer and statistics."

More suggestions please
